Bedford High School

Bedford High School was founded in 1882 and run by the Harpur Trust. It was ahead of its time in offering girls a full curriculum of academic subjects. It had its own games field and science room, along with first rate facilities for music and drama. From its earliest days it sent girls to university, usually Oxford, Cambridge or London. It remains an independent school for girls to the present day. Well known alumnae include the artist Dora Carrington, who was in the year below Dora Greene.
